NBC's Today Show

As Women's Flat Track Derby gains increasing thunder this year leading up to the final 2007 tournaments, NBC's Today Show has taken notice, and produced an in-depth segment on the modern roller derby revolution featuring member leagues the Charm City Roller Girls of Baltimore, Maryland and New York's Gotham Girls Roller Derby slated to air Monday July 23, 2007 at 8:35am.

The segment sends Today Show personality Natalie Morales to Baltimore to practice with the Charm City Roller Girls, and includes footage of their June home league bout as well as interviews. On the morning of the 23rd, the Gotham Girls take over the Plaza at Rockefeller Center, and will be skating live demos throughout the morning's broadcast!

Expect to see more of WFTDA leagues taking over the national airways as the countdown begins to WFTDA's East Regionals -- Heartland Havoc -- and National Championships -- Texas Shootout.

The Minnesota RollerGirls are traveling to both the East Regionals and National Championships. The Charm City Roller Girls, profiled in the Today Show piece, will come to Minnesota on December 8 to play the MNRG All-Star team.

We're taking reservations for next year's season, and it's gonna be a good one. We'll be having a bunch of visiting teams in the fall, but they'll be playing against our regular home teams this time around. In December, our all-star traveling team will hit the home track for some competitions against other all-star teams from around the country. Then from February - April, we'll have our four home teams battling it out for the Golden Skate. Who will the winner be? No one can say at this point, but we know there are a lot of win-hungry skaters out there and there'll even be a few fresh faces next season.
